Decatur First United Methodist Church Director of Discipleship and Youth Ministries POSITION OVERVIEW In the next 5 years, Decatur First United Methodist Church will plant the seeds of God’s Word and cultivate the Good News of Jesus Christ in the lives of 3,000 children, teenagers, and adults in the Decatur area. The Director of Discipleship and Youth Ministries will be one of the key leaders of this effort. The Director will be the lead staff member for the youth ministry. In addition to engaging youth and all members of the church in small group discipleship, the director will be responsible for the day-to-day relationship building, nurturing and spiritual guidance for youth inside and outside our congregation. ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW Decatur First United Methodist Church exists to disciple the church and cultivate gospel inspired servant leaders. Jesus said, “I am among you as one who serves” (Luke 22:27). While growing in Christ and sharing in God’s love, Decatur FUMC seeks to create overflowing servant leadership through spiritual formation that creates servant leaders in our church, our city, our country and our world.
