Tool for Church Health: L3 Model (Loving, Learning, Leading)

7/4/2017

Loving. Learning. Leading. Over the last several years, these three building blocks helped the leadership of Clearbranch UMC (Central District) establish a deeper, covenantal relationship that allowed them to take an honest assessment of their congregation and their community; clarify core values; develop a mission statement and a vision statement; and prepare the congregation for future growth.

During the 2017 North Alabama Annual Conference Rev. Vaughn Stafford, senior pastor of Clearbranch UMC, presented the L3 (Loving, Learning and Leading) model of leadership as a tool for church health. He shared the congregation’s experience of the L3 model noting, “We actually wanted to see not only what just our church should become, but we wanted to see what the world should become as a result of us being the church that God intended.”

The 2017 North Alabama Conference emphasis was on Church Health – one of the four Conference priorities. Throughout the day on Monday of Annual Conference, Executive Director of Healthy Congregations Rev. Bob Alford was joined by local church leaders to highlight different tools available to help congregations grow healthier.
