Pan-Methodist Campaign for Children in Poverty invites your congregation to Celebrate Children’s Sabbath

10/9/2017

The North Alabama Conference Connection to the Pan-Methodist Campaign for Children in Poverty invites you and your congregation to Celebrate Children’s Sabbath on October 22, 2017.

Children’s Sabbath is different from a Children’s Sunday. Children’s Sabbath does celebrate your congregation’s children, but it also is a time (during worship, study, outreach) to invite your congregation to focus on the realities of children beyond the congregation. Children’s Sabbath is a way for our congregations to help children thrive – not just survive – the systems and circumstances impacting their young lives.

Your congregation is invited to join thousands of faith communities across the country in this celebration by holding a special worship service and by adding educational programs and advocacy activities to engage people in improving the lives of children and their families in your community, state and nation.

If October doesn’t work for your church, then pick ANY Sunday before December 31 to celebrate Children’s Sabbath.

The North Alabama Conference Pan-Methodist Campaign for Children in Poverty Team has compiled a tool kit to help your congregation plan a Children’s Sabbath. Resources include worship liturgies, a video and study guide, children in poverty facts and ideas for engaging your congregation’s neighborhood.

You can find the North Alabama Children's Sabbath Congregational Tool Kit at www.umcna.org/childrenssabbath.
