Louise Branscomb Barrier Breaker Award
In 1990 the United Methodist Women of the North Alabama Conference established the Louise Branscomb Barrier Breaker Award as a way to annually recognize a leader in our conference who is willing to take risks in order to advocate for women and marginalized communities. Each year the Conference Commission on the Status and Role of Women (COSROW) continues to recognize barrier breakers through the presentation of this award at Annual Conference.
North Alabama United Methodists are encouraged to nominate barrier breakers each spring.
To qualify for the award, the nominee must be actively involved in a North Alabama United Methodist Church. Nominees may be clergy or laity and may be any gender.
The deadline for 2022 nominations is Thursday, March 24.
