Who supplies the grant funds?

The CALL grants are made possible by the North Alabama Conference Board of Ordained Ministry (BOOM) and the Institute for Clergy Excellence (ICE).

How can the funds be used?

The CALL grant moneys are intended to fund study expenses and resources, not food, incidentals, or ordinary travel expenses (such as driving to cohort meetings). Receipts must be turned in for all expenses. Remember, these funds are being made available to help grow your ministry. Please be good stewards!

Who is on the Application Approval Team?

The Application Approval Team is comprised of six members: two from the Board of Ordained Ministry, two from the Ministerial Education Fund Committee, and two from the CALL Grants Planning Committee.

How do I know who is eligible to participate?

All North Alabama clergy ordained from 2008-2014 are eligible to apply this year. For a list of these clergy, please contact Kelsey Johnson at

How can I connect with clergy to form a cohort?

The CALL Grants have a Facebook group! Please join our group to connect with other new clergy who are interested in joining a CALL cohort.

How do I pick a study topic?

Think about any tough situations or difficult tasks you have encountered in your ministry. What have you wished you knew more about that you didn’t learn in seminary? What skills do you need to develop to be even more effective in ministry?
