Worship/Music Director for Contemporary Services


This individual is responsible for the musical activities during the 9 a.m. New Song blended worship. This includes leadership of praise teams/bands and a well planned effectively executed worship experience for congregations of diverse ages. Competencies/Expectations: • Strong Christian beliefs and a heart for ministry • Ability to embrace our Church vision and values • Strong organizational skills • Proven leadership skills utilizing a cooperative and collaborative approach • Demonstrated ability to thrive and sustain consensus approach • Ability to partner with multiple constituencies of varying generations • Reliable/trustworthy/self-starter/follow-through Essential job functions: • Coordinate with Clergy to develop music that aligns with worship themes • Provide leadership to all involved with praise and worship • Plan/execute/lead meaningful worship services • Lead praise teams/band, including song selections and rehearsals • Oversee media incorporation • Work with appropriate team to enhance the worship environment • Provide direction/oversight of all singers/musicians and technical team • Coordinate drama teams as required • Work with Children’s program director and youth directors to utilize children and youth in contemporary services. • Plan/coordinate/enlist leadership for praise and worship in the contemporary services • Plan/coordinate/enlist leadership for praise and worship in the contemporary services • Coordinate with other worship and music directors for special events/days in the church calendar • Advise clergy/staff/SPRC/lay leaders as to the needs and requirements for contemporary worship and music ministry Qualifications: • Strong Christian values • Preferably a degree in music and/or 3-5 years’ experience in music ministry • Ability to lead vocalists/instrumentalists and challenge musicians to create a meaningful worship experience • Demonstrated ability and/or experience in leading praise team • Demonstrated ability to build relationships across a diverse congregation/staff • Demonstrated ability to plan/lead worship that edifies Christ and disciple development • Demonstrated musical talents, media skills, and leadership abilities • Strong organizational and communicational as well as interpersonal skills • Knowledge of an experience in leading contemporary worship services • Competent in piano or guitar
