Daycare Director

Pell City First United Methodist Church is seeking a full time Daycare Director. The PCFUMC daycare director is responsible for the daily operations of our daycare center. The director ensures a safe, happy, caring, educational, and religious environment for young children, manages the teaching staff, develops curricula in coordination with teachers, communicates with parents, and upholds the center's reputation. The director represents the church in this ministry with staff, children, and parents and upholds the church’s mission statement that we are a “community of believers seeking to transform lives through Jesus Christ”. Education: BS in early childhood education or CDA or equivalent experience Responsibilities: Keep accurate files on employees, children, and activities. Conduct registration and enrollment of children in compliance with program policies. Manage collection of tuition and other monies to be turned into the church office. Recruit, interview, hire, train, and oversee the best qualified staff. Manage the work schedules of staff and call substitutes and needed. Manage employee timesheets for payroll. Assist in planning appropriate curriculum for each age group. Organize monthly schedules for special events and holidays. Provide performance evaluations and feedback for staff. Work with staff to find ways to positively address any behavioral or learning issues. Plan and schedule staff meetings and/or training sessions. Order and purchase teaching materials and maintain an adequate supply inventory. Maintain positive parent relations through multiple means of communication. Plan menus with the kitchen staff and order food. Review and recommend improvements to the facility. Attend Daycare Board meetings when scheduled. Report to the Daycare Board of Directors and PCFUMC Ministers. Requirements: Possess exceptional interpersonal skills with children and adults. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Be organized and have strong business and time management skills. Have an appropriate code of ethics for working with children and adults. Be flexible and able to react appropriately to changing circumstances. Experience working in a daycare environment. Experience working in a management position. Pass background check. Available to work Monday thru Friday from 8:00—5:00.
