Director of Children's Ministry

JOB GOAL
To minister to children and their families through the worship of Jesus Christ, teaching of Biblical content, and serving Christ in His church and the world.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Responsible for the vision and planning of the Children’s Ministry from birth through 6th grade
  2. Partner with the Children’s Council and other volunteers to plan and lead children’s programs that focus on personal Christian growth and missions
  3. Actively participate and interact with the children and parents through a rotating presence in Sunday School classes, Children’s Church, Wednesday night programs, and special events
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  1. Growing relationship with Jesus Christ, ability to express such, and a theology that is Wesleyan
  2. Strong knowledge of the Bible and the ability to communicate on an age appropriate level
  3. Minimum Age - 21 years old
  4. The qualified candidate should:
    a. Be an advocate for children and demonstrate an interest in their Christian development
    b. Actively participate in the life of Pell City First United Methodist Church
    c. Possess the ability to organize, develop and execute a budget, and plan all aspects of children’s ministry
    d. Demonstrate an openness to learn
    e. Develop, plan, and implement seasonal activities such as Vacation Bible School, Easter celebrations, etc.
    f. Work cooperatively with others--adults, youth, children, and staff
    g. Be an effective leader, communicator, and team player
    h. Possess a strong work ethic
    i. Be active, outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic
    j. Possess excellent computer skills and the ability to communicate in all forms of media
