Dr. Warren Hamby

Retired North Alabama Conference elder Dr. Warren Hamby died last night.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, June 12, at 1 p.m. at Sylacauga First UMC.

Bishop Will Willimon says, “Our prayers are with Mary Farr and the family and friends of Warren Hamby.  He brought leadership to our local churches, our conference and our worldwide church through his ministry.  We are grateful for his life, ministry and witness among us.”

Dr. Hamby was ordained an Elder in 1952.  During his ministry, the Hambys served Graysville; Midway; Mulga Oak Grove; Sulligent; Alberta; Hartselle First; Huntsville Trinity; Jackson Galloway; and Huffman UMCs.  He also served as The Florence District Superintendent and with the Board of Global Ministries. He retired in 1987.
