Deaconess Nell Krueger


Deaconess Nell Krueger died Sunday, Nov.16, 2014, in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Arrangements are as follows:

  • Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, and from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors (5281 Cliff Gookin Boulevard, Tupelo, Mississippi 38801).
  • A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors.
  • A committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Lamar County Memorial Gardens in Vernon, Ala.

She grew up in Vernon, Alabama. She was commissioned a United Methodist deaconess. (A Deaconess is a laywomen called by God to be in a lifetime relationship in The United Methodist Church for engagement with a full-time vocation in ministries of love, justice, and service.) In 1976 she was assigned to the Birmingham area as the director of Senior Adult Ministries for the North Alabama Conference. She later served as a professor of church and community ministry at Wood Junior College in Mississippi.
