Dear Friends, I first began attending Annual Conference as a child with my Dad, mother and siblings. While Dad participated in meetings, we had a great time together visiting with friends, shopping at the Cokesbury display and enjoying each other. We would accompany Dad to worship in the evenings. Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the in-person North Alabama Annual Conference scheduled for June 6-8, 2021, will be adapted to once again be a shorter, virtual meeting with satellite venues for those without reliable internet capabilities in their area. Dear Friends, We did it! We accomplished a meaningful virtual Annual Conference. This virtual alternative to an in-person meeting allowed us to safely Conference together in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your response to our first virtual Annual Conference was heartening. Our 944 unique log-ins to the Zoom webinar and 109 unique viewers on YouTube indicate that participation was higher than at the 2019 in-person Conference. Dear Friends, We have planned three 2020 North Alabama Annual Conferences under the leadership of Director of Connectional Ministries Linda Holland and the planning team she leads. Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in many parts of Alabama, the in-person North Alabama Annual Conference planned for August 16-17, 2020, at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville has been postponed until late September and will have a multi-venue format. In a video message on April 15, 2020, Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett announced arrangements are currently underway to postpone the 2020 Annual Conference originally scheduled for May 31-June 2. This postponement is due to safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
