The North Alabama Conference Historical Society will hold its Spring meeting on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Camp Sumatanga in the basement of Hutto Auditorium. Jacksonville First UMC receives Charter Church Certificate

The Conference Commission on Archives and History presented the Charter Church Certificate to Jacksonville First UMC on Sept. 15, 2013. The church was established in December 1832 and has served the community for 180 years. Pastor Rev. John Dressler Children Present Program for the NAC Historical Society

The North Alabama Conference Historical Society held its fall meeting on October 13 at Sylacauga First UMC. A presentation of the history of the church was given by church historian Bettye Lessley, and the  life story of Johannes "John"  Dressler was given by his three children with the help of the Sylacauga Church Choir, under the direction of Chris Phillips. Lakeview UMC in Tanner receives Charter Church Award

On Sept. 2, 2012, Lakeview UMC in Tanner (Northwest District) received a Charter Church Award.  This recognition is for North Alabama churches that can document the congregation was founded before 1870. At its meeting on Saturday, October 13,2012, the North Alabama Conference Historical Society will honor the memory of Dr. John Dressler, a prominent secular and church musician who for a time served in the North Alabama Conference. James Gwinn set out from the Western Conference to minister to those families living in the Great Bend of the Tennessee River in North Alabama and Rev. Matthew P.
