Union Chapel UMC celebrates 160 years in ministry


On Sunday, October 20, 2019, Union Chapel UMC in Cordova (Central District) celebrated its 160th birthday. In preparation for the big day, the church Trustees readied the fellowship hall and grounds for guests and the ladies of the church prepared a covered dish meal.  There were more than 60 persons in worship including several former and retired pastors. Aldersgate UMC and partner congregations celebrate Biker Sunday to help Children's Hospital


On September 22, 2019, Aldersgate UMC in Dora, Alabama,  (Central District) sponsored their 2nd Annual Biker Sunday. Fifty-six people attended and raised $600 for Children's Hospital of Alabama. Gary Harris a Lay Member of the Aldersgate Church was successful in organizing the ride and collecting donations from more than twenty merchants from around North Alabama. Taylor Memorial UMC celebrates 4th Annual Blessing of the Backpacks event


Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church in the Clay/Chalkville/Pinson area (Central District) kicked off Back to School season on August 5, 2017, with its 4th Annual Blessing of the Backpacks. Julie Morgan heads up the church volunteers who purchase basic school supplies for grades K-12. The volunteers then assemble and pack the supplies to give away to local students. Birmingham First UMC's City Kids ARTS Camp still going strong


Nine years ago First United Methodist Church of Birmingham began a community outreach children’s camp including surrounding area ministries. The camp quickly became a favorite for all involved.
