"The Conference has given us a great opportunity in the new eight districts. The District Superintendents that I have chosen for each of the new districts have all been chosen because of high regard for their ability to lead us into our new life together. Bishop Willimon said.

The Districts Superintendents and the new districts they will supervise are as follows:

Messer Lee Ward
Central District - Dr. Glenn Conner

Bishop Willimon also announced that Rev. Gary Ward will serve as part of the Cabinet as the Assistant to the Bishop for Transitional Issues. Rev. Ward will also serve as Secretary of the Cabinet..

Speaking of these cabinet members Bishop Willimon said, Most of them have worked together in a two year process of preparation to do our work differently and more effectively in the new districts.  They have become a team who is dedicated to working with Jesus to 'make all things new.'  I'm excited about our work ahead."

These appointments will take effect following the North Alabama Annual Conference that will meet on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College June 1-3, 2006.

This week the Bishop and Cabinet released both the official names of the new districts as well as the churches that will make up each new district. For complete information visit the conference website at www.northalabamaumc.org and click Redistricting at the top of the page.
