Maples and Schultz Discuss Weekly Benchmark Reporting

Joe Maples, retired Deacon and pastor of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, stopped by the Central District Office recently to discuss his concern about the weekly benchmark reporting.  As Dr. Maples said to his District Superintendent, Ron Schultz, "Preacher, you know I don't have a computer and no one in my congregation has one."   Schultz listened to Dr. Maples but also reminded him that computers are necessary in all aspects of our lives, including doing ministry.  And he reminded Dr. Maples that, "computers are not going away."

Dr. Maples has been a part of the North Alabama Conference since 1949 and has no doubt seen many changes through the years.  And Maples was not going to let this latest change cause him from participating in the weekly benchmark reporting.  Within two days of his stopping by the Central District, Dr. Maples had located someone who agreed to take a couple minutes each week to enter the benchmark numbers into the Conference system.

We applaud Dr Joe Maples and others like him who may not have the computer in their office but are resourceful in finding others who can assist in this ministry.

A weekly benchmark instructional video is available on the North Alabama Conference website: .
