UM Pastoral Care and Counseling to offer seminar to help you get your church past "stuck"

United Methodist Pastoral Care and Counseling, the Office of Connectional Ministries, and the Northeast District are pleased to be bringing back Dr. Ron Martoia to the North Alabama United Methodist Conference.

In July 2008, Ron was in Birmingham, and his conversation with us about getting churches "past stuck" was exciting and challenging.  He says that the existing church has two options, either a "slow death" or "deep, systemic change."  This change, he believes, starts with leadership as an emotional process, not as a technique.

Rev. Roger Thompson, senior pastor of Langdale UMC says , “I brought my entire staff to hear Ron. It was the highlight of our year and has paid great dividends”

Northeast District Superintendent Rev. Tom Bell says "‘Getting Your Church Past Stuck’ is an intriguing phrase. It is intriguing because all of us at one time or another feel that ‘stuck’ is exactly where we are. March 12, 2009, will be a day to do something about it. This seminar should be a great way to make the first step. Both Pastors and Lay Leaders need to be involved. So if you are a Lay Leader bring your Pastor, and if you are a Pastor bring your Lay Leader, and make the first step.”

The Cost for the day is $50 and includes lunch.    CEUs will be available for clergy.
Registrations are due by February 27.

You can register online at the conference website or email Pastoral Care and Counseling at  You can pay online with a credit card or debit card or you can pay by check payable to Pastoral Care and Counseling, 1313 Alford Avenue, Birmingham, Alabama  35226.
