Getting Your Church Past Stuck event equips local church leaders

On Thursday, March 12, the Office of Pastoral Care and Counseling, the Office of Connectional Ministries, and the Northeast District presented Getting Your Church Past Stuck with Dr. Ron Martoia in Huntsville. Approximately 90 pastors and lay leaders gathered to spend the day in conversation with Ron to consider how leadership is more about how we manage emotional processes with ourselves and our congregations, and less about specific technique.

Bishop Willimon observed that “One of the best aspects of the day was the presence of pastors with their staffs and lay leadership. We’re trying to have more events for pastors and laity together. Ron’s presentation was great.”

Another participant stated “It was the first workshop on transformational leadership that I have been to that has drawn together family systems thinking with emphasis on spiritual formation, through the eyes of someone who has been an outstanding local church leader. What wonderful weaving.”

Dr. Ron Martoia received his MDiv from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and his DMin from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is the founder and for 15 years was the lead pastor of Westwinds Community Church in Michigan. Ron has founded, a seminar and resource catalyst for leadership development and learning to creatively intersect our culture.
