On Thursday June 4, 2009, participants and their children are invited to come to the family picnic which will feature story tellers, musicians, and numerous activities for children. Lunch will be available from Chick-Fil-A for $5.50 a person. Participants must pre-order lunch for them and their family through Annual Conference Registration
The Family Picnic has been schedule in response to requests from Annual Conference members requesting more fellowship time.
Annual Conference 2009 also brings with it a new program just for children!
The Children’s Ministry Leadership Connection will be sponsoring an Annual Conference Camp for Kids for the children of parents participating in Annual Conference.
Participants can register their child to participate on Friday and Saturday of Annual Conference with Bible study activities, mission projects, games, crafts, and worship experiences involving the curriculum Bold Children of the Bible. This camp will help to empower the new generation of children, by looking at Biblical examples of children who were empowered by God for leadership at a young age.
"The Bible will come to life for your children through the vivid stories of Biblical child heroes such as: Miriam, Daniel, Rhoda, Timothy, and many more, says Rev. Elizabeth Nall, Conference Children's Coordinator and Connectional Ministries Consultant. "The children’s eyes will be opened to ways that they can become an empowered leader for God at a young age."
The Annual Conference Camp for Kids will accept three year olds through sixth graders to participate in the activities. Nursery care for younger children will also be available.
The Conference Camp team will divide the children into age appropriate groupings for activities. Friday June 5, 2009 the Conference Camp will accept children from the 8 am hour until 8 pm. Saturday June 6, 2009 the Conference Camp team will accept children from 7:45 am until 5 pm that evening.
Parents will need to provide meals for their child with the exception of Friday night, a noodle dinner and interactive movie will be provided. The conference will provide snacks. If your child has allergies please bring all food items for them to eat when you drop them off to the program.
Clergy, clergy spouses, and laity are all encouraged to volunteer with this new children's ministry.
"You can volunteer for the full two days of the program, for one full day, or for a four hour rotation. You must have a background check and safe sanctuary training completed to assist with the children," Nall says.
If you would like to sign up your child or volunteer please check the website for more information. If you have questions about the program please contact Elizabeth Nall at 205-226-7993 or email@example.com
