Whorton Bend UMC celebrates 100 years and looks to future ministry

September 15, 2009

Whorton Bend United Methodist Church celebrated its 100th year anniversary on Sunday, August 16.

The celebration inlcuded a worship/celebration service held in the sanctuary, followed by a huge lunch in the fellowship hall. There was an afternoon of singing with The Harmony Trio which wrapped up the day's events.

District Superintendent Rev. Bill Gandy brought a positive, encouraging message on the past of the church, but also talking about the future of the church.

There were about 72 in attendance to celebrate this joyful occasion.

Many members of the Whorton Bend congregation put in hard work in organizing this event! You can watch this service online at www.wbumc.com  and selecting "Online Worship Services" on the left side, then scrolling until you find "August 16, 2009 | Centennial Celebration Service."
