The Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church family is stronger as they received the wonderful gift of 53 confirmands into full membership on Sunday, December 6, 2009, at 5 p.m.
Bishop Bob Morgan, was on hand to baptize seven of those who had not been baptized earlier in their lives and to confirm those who professed their faith in Christ. The special evening included all clergy in attendance and the New Life Singers youth choir on hand to lead this meaningful time of worship.
Rev. Ruth Grissom, Pastor of Elementary Ministries, says “As our clergy team led each class, the candidates for confirmation were strengthened in their faith with team mentors to help them through questions, support them and also have some fun as a group in outside activities as well as a retreat at our beloved Camp Sumatanga. They also supported missions in their giving in their 13 weeks together. The class sent the collection of $439.42 to purchase gift certificates for teens who may have been forgotten at Christmas through Oak Mountain Missions Ministry.”
Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church looks forward to the ministry of these youth as they continue to serve in the strength of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
