Hayden area United Methodist Churches reach out to community with Ecumenical Fall Festival

This fall Hayden UMC, Smoke Rise UMC and The Beacon UMC joined with six other Hayden area churches to have a community fall festival.

Rev. Ron Howard, pastor of Hayden UMC, explains, “We wanted to show our community that there was unity between the churches in our area. It was a huge success, over two thousand people showed up.”

The community fall festival was held at the Hayden ball park, which is connected to both the Primary and Elementary schools. Each church took different responsibilities to make the festival a possibility - from registration to the decorations. Three local bands played on the stage set up for the event.

Local merchants also helped advertise the festival and by donated the prizes that were given away. A local grocery store donated the 1200 hotdogs served and a local company donated the drinks. Each church donated their fall festival budget into one kitty to cover all of the other costs.

Rev. Howard adds, “We're already planning next year’s event. The community now can see ‘The Church.’”
