Forest Lake UMC helps community in many ways following storms

This following appeared in the Forest Lake UMC newsletter immediately following the April 27 storms. It was written by member Susan Dickinson.

Pictured to the right is only one of our teams that went out to help in the different areas.

Mr. Ricky Roundtree was referred to Forest Lake UMC (FLUM) for a ride to pick up medicine by Lisa Smith working at the Belk Center. I was the one able to drive the bus this time. During the ride, he kept telling Tammy Watts and me about his truck that was stuck under 2 trees, but still running. I left him with mine and Dan’s phone numbers offering to help, but not really every expecting to hear from him again. Only a short while later, Dan received the call and off we went. It took this crew over 2 hours, some creative engineering and a hand from God to cut out his car - ready to drive! Mr. Ricky was so happy we left him in tears. This experience is one of the many I will remember for the rest of my life.
