Read-a-Thon to benefit The Learning Village

9/15/2011

The Learning Village’s inaugural Read-A-Thon will take place on Saturday, November 12th from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Central Park UMC in Birmingham. The Fellowship Hall will be transformed into Central Park Coffee House. Participants are invited to read books of their choice in paper or electronic form. These readers will solicit sponsors to donate money for the five hour reading period. The Read-A-Thon is a fund raiser for The Learning Village. It is a great way for youth groups and small groups to help an important ministry for the Central Park community.

The Learning Village is a non-profit ministry of Central Park United Methodist Church offering a free after-school program, summer, spring and winter camps, and a computer lab. Future plans include include adult education (GED), employment preparation (resume writing and job interviewing), and affordable day care.

Anyone can participate in the Read-a-thon. Click here to request registration forms and sponsor sheets via E-mail or call 205-923-7222.
