Bishop and Cabinet announce clergy appointment changes

Bishop William H. Willimon and the North Alabama Conference Cabinet announce two clergy appointment changes.

Rev. Emily Penfield, senior pastor of the Church of the Reconciler in Birmingham, will be appointed as senior pastor of Woodlawn UMC in the South Central District.

Rev. Matt Lacey, senior pastor of Woodlawn UMC, will be appointed senior pastor of The Church of the Reconciler. Rev. Lacey will also continue his role as Conference Director of Missions and Advocacy.

These new appointments will be effective Sunday, May 1, 2012.

"The Cabinet and I believe these appointments will fully and best utilize the talents of two of our best young pastors," noted Bishop Willimon. “Our beloved Woodlawn has literally risen out of the ashes after their tragic fire and through Matt’s visionary leadership has built a beautiful new church in the heart of the city.   Emily will enable this church to maintain its present momentum.  The Church of the Reconciler is one of the most beloved of the ministries of our Conference.  Matt will give the strong, positive leadership that the COR now needs.  We look forward to the leadership that these two pastors will bring to both Woodlawn and Church of the Reconciler."
