On Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at 6 p.m. the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church is holding a special worship service remembering those affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy and for all people who hurt or grieve during this season. North Alabama Conference Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett will preach.
The service will be at Riverchase United Methodist Church, 1953 Old Montgomery Highway, Hoover, AL 35244.
Clergy are invited to participate in a clergy processional and sit together. Clergy should arrive by 5:30 p.m. with black robes and white stoles.
Bishop Wallace-Padgett says, "The hearts of the people in the United Methodist Churches in North Alabama go out to the families and friends experiencing grief through the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. We pray that all will experience God's deep strength and peace in the hard days ahead."
The community is invited to join area United Methodists in this time of prayer and worship.
