The Gathering Place holds annual CityWide Mission Day

On June 22, The Gathering Place Church participated in its annual CityWide mission event. This year's event sent out 127 church members to various projects around the community. The projects consisted of deep cleaning for the elderly and widows, landscaping for the disabled, four wheelchair ramps for families with disabilities, and light to heavy home repairs for many with needs.

Shane Knapp, missions coordinator for The Gathering Place Church, was the point person for all projects and volunteer distribution. Shane joined forces with Shepherds Supply,a local non-profit, to identify some of the community's biggest needs and organize each project.

"CityWide is the most important event that we have all year," TGP pastor Matt Scott said. "It is worship that pleases our Lord and brings His people together in order to go out to His people in need. It’s what the church should look like daily. While we are ‘on mission’ weekly with various projects, CityWide is the one time each year that offers our congregation a time of corporate worship combined with missional service."

As part of this year's CityWide event, TGP commissioned a team to travel to Oklahoma to assist with recent storm damage. This team will stay for one week and assist with the rebuilding effort.
