Jennings Chapel UMC gives Prayer Squares to those headed back to school

As the community prepared for back to school season, Jennings Chapel UMC's Prayer Ministry created Prayer Squares for the congregation to give to all those going to school this year.

During prayer time on Sunday, August 18, students and teachers came to the altar to receive a prayer square. They were told about the number of prayers included in each square as a reminder of God's love for them and that Jesus is with them every day covering them with prayer.

The squares left over will go to Jennings Chapel UMC members to tuck away. When they run across someone in need of prayer, they can pull out a prayer square, give it to them along with the explanation that our church will be praying for them, says pastor of Jennings Chapel UMC Rev. Judy Shepherd. "This is our tangible way to include prayer in school and in the community."
