UMC #GivingTuesday coming on Dec. 3

November 25, 2013

Dear Friends,

If you are like me, I often begin to ask questions about being a member of the body of Christ while spending hundreds of dollars during the holidays: standing in lines on Black Friday, spending too much, often buying for myself as well, particularly after seeing so much need in the world.

This year, however, we together have an opportunity to make an impact.

For one day only, on December 3, 2013 I want to invite you to UMC #GivingTuesday when gifts made to support any project or ministry through The Advance will be matched*.
[Global Ministries will allocate the “matching funds” dollar for dollar up to the first $500,000 in gifts to Advance projects received online on December 3, 2013, between 12 a.m. EST and 11:59 p.m. A maximum of $10,000 per individual gift to a project will be dispersed as matching funds. A project may receive a maximum of $50,000 in matching funds.]

As always, when you give to through The Advance, 100 percent of your gift directly supports our ministry; overhead costs are covered through other channels.

Here in our conference, you can click here to help support one of our missionaries, support in-conference Advance Specials such as UMVIM, SEJ or Upper Sand Mountain Parish or the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, Southeastern Jurisdiction office here in Birmingham.

You can also support a missionary or project you already have an existing partnership with, by clicking here to search the entire project database.

How will you make your donation count?

Grace and peace,
