Christ is with us through this storm

Dear Friends,

Birmingham experienced thundersnow on Thursday. We can add that to the variety of challenging weather we have navigated in recent years in North Alabama.

We know about more than weather storms, too. In fact we are in the midst of a challenging storm in the North Alabama Annual Conference at this moment.

My prayers continue for the Greer family and friends as well as the Gardendale-Mt. Vernon UMC congregation, staff and interim pastor, Dr. Bill Bostick. I also give thanks to God that we are not alone in the storm. We have each other to lean on for support and encouragement. Most importantly, Christ is with us through this storm.

We are so blessed to have Sheri Ferguson and her counseling team developing a long term pastoral care plan for the Gardendale-Mt. Vernon UMC. Sheri and her team are also available to individual congregations, as well as clergy and their families, as we walk through this difficult time together.

Thank you for the many expressions of support and concern that laity and clergy alike have sent to me and other Conference leadership. They mean so very much.

As always, it is a privilege to serve as your bishop.

Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett
