Oklahoma Update

5/31/2013

Currently the Oklahoma Conference of The United Methodist Church has more than enough teams to meet their needs.  They are asking that other Conferences hold off sending teams to assist at this time. Please be patient because typically after the "new" has worn off from a disaster, fewer teams volunteer. By waiting we may be able to provide better assistance to the victims of the recent storms.

Also consider utilizing your Early Response Teams as Recovery Teams. When they move into the Recovery Phase of this disaster it will NOT be necessary for Teams to have UMCOR badges.

We will keep you up to date on all the latest developments.  Please remember that there are protocols that must be followed.  These protocols are not meant to prevent you from helping, but to keep the process of recovery moving forward.  Remember that right now you can best help them through financial donations to the UMCOR fund and direct donations to the Oklahoma Conference Disaster Response efforts.

Continue to pray for all those affected by this latest series of storms.

In His Grace,

Randy Burbank
North Alabama Annual Conference Disaster Response Director
