The North Alabama Conference Connectional Ministries announces a new event for those working with young people. STEP Conference: Creating Pathways of Long-Term Discipleship will take place on April 24-25, 2020, at Trinity UMC in Homewood.
STEP Conference will be an opportunity for all those who focus on the discipleship of young people to gather and learn how to best sustain ministry across age-levels. This training event will be open to children and youth leaders, as well as offering segments in family ministries. Educational credits for clergy will also be available.
This new event will provide high-quality training for local church ministry leaders at a low-cost that won’t break the budget! STEP Conference will also provide opportunities for those who wear many hats in the local church, as well as those who only wear one hat but work collaboratively in ministry with young people.
The keynote speaker will be Charlie Conder. She is a popular speaker who has worked with young people for more than 18 years in education and ministry settings. Since 2005, she has had the privilege of serving as the middle school youth minister in a thriving Methodist church in a close-knit community in the Metro Atlanta area. During her time in ministry, she has coached adult volunteers to consistently lead small groups of middle school teens, organized large middle school ministry worship experiences and lead an on-campus ministry program at a local middle school. Her extensive experience with students and families along with her Advanced Coaching Certification gives her a unique approach to ministry. She lives near Atlanta with her wildly talented husband, Eric, and her sometimes snarky, but always lovable, teenage daughter.
Registration for the event opens on November 4. The cost of the event is as follows:
Potential participants are also invited to offer ideas for breakout sessions that would most help their ministries. The Workshop Survey will be open through November 1.
