Help incoming college students connect with a Wesley Foundation this fall

7/23/2020

Even under normal circumstances moving from high school to college is a stressful time in students' lives, and that is especially the case right now as every aspect of that transition and campus life has been disrupted. College this fall will look different than what students were expecting when they applied, and in many cases students' first time on campus may be when they arrive for classes. With so much unknown, students fear what community, academics, and college life will be like.

For both new and returning students, however, Wesley Foundations at colleges across North Alabama provide a place to connect on campus. These United Methodist campus ministries have spent the summer making plans to adapt to the different reality of campus life this fall. "Even in the midst of a global pandemic, the mission and ministry of our local Wesleys continues," says Rev. Dr. Wade Langer, Conference Director of Campus Ministry.

If you are a pastor or youth leader with graduated high schoolers attending college this fall, you are encouraged to submit those students' names and contact information at https://na-reg.brtapp.com/2020CampusMinistryStudentInformation. That information will be passed to campus ministries within North Alabama so that they may contact students directly to provide opportunities to connect both in the coming weeks before they arrive on campus and this fall once classes begin.

Even in the midst of so much uncertainty on college campuses, Rev. Dr. Langer says that "our conference Wesley campus ministries will continue to be spaces of powerful inspiration, rich community, and purposeful mission— just as they always have. We can’t wait for your students to be a part this fall!"
