Message from Bishop Wallace-Padgett: Final details for virtual Annual Conference
I am looking forward to seeing many of you online at our upcoming 2020 North Alabama Annual Conference. We will gather virtually from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 for worship, prayer, business and celebrations. Satellite venues will be available by pre-registration only for voting members of the Annual Conference who are without technology or internet access to participate from their homes.
During the opening worship and the closing sending forth services Bishop Leonard Fairley will preach on this year’s Conference theme, “Singing God’s Song with Those Forgotten.” Elected as a bishop in 2016, Bishop Fairley currently serves the Louisville area.
One of our four Conference priorities, “Ministry with the Poor” will be highlighted throughout the day. Each local church will have the opportunity to financially support this priority by participating in the Annual Conference special offering designated for QuadW Missional Internship. QuadW provides paid summer internships for college-age young adults to serve in ministry with the poor. The North Alabama Conference has sponsored 40 interns at Birmingham and Anniston sites during the past several summers. (Learn more about QuadW at https://youtu.be/bxJT7J9OXM4.)
Churches are asked to consider contributing one dollar per member to the Annual Conference special offering. Checks may be made payable and mailed to the North Alabama Conference with “QuadW Offering” indicated on the memo line. The generosity of our local churches will provide for our 2021 interns and beyond. Thank you for your consideration of this opportunity to help fund an important component of the North Alabama Conference’s ministry with the poor.
I look forward to seeing many of you on September 26 as together we sing God’s song with those forgotten. As always it is a privilege to serve as your bishop.
