A special highlight for 2021 is an all-day workshop led by Tony Morgan and team entitled “Digital Strategies Masterclass.”
During the first half of 2021, North Alabama Conference clergy and laity are invited to be a part of EVOLVE, a popular continuing education opportunity designed to equip local church leaders to courageously lead their congregations into a future we cannot yet imagine.
EVOLVE began in the fall of 2020 when North Alabama's Bishop and Cabinet joined with New and Renewing Churches Development, Multicultural Ministries, and the Board of Ordained Ministry to offer a continuing education opportunity comprised of a series of sessions using the Zoom platform and featuring nationally known, top-notch presenters including Carey Nieuwhof, Olu Brown, Leonard Sweet and Tony Morgan.
In a recent video conversation with Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett, Executive Director of New Church Rev. Suzanne Katschke explains, "The purpose of EVOLVE began to evolve in response to COVID-19. We began to realize there wasn't going to be a 'new normal,' there was going to be a 'next normal.' Because of COVID, we are in a situation where we are all church planters right now. We saw a need. We needed help getting to this next normal."
She adds, "We decided we would bring in the most well-known, the most respected and most highly-trusted church leaders we could. And our hope was to learn as much as we could, but we also focused on this concept of building relationships. We grasped that during this time we needed each other more than ever and that we are really, really better together. So while we set this up to learn, and we've done a lot of learning together, a lot of the power has come from the conversations that we've had with each other, with our peers."
While the 2020 version of EVOLVE was limited to only 100 people, the 2021 series has made room for many more clergy and laity leaders to take part! Once again a series of top-notch presenters will offer insights and tools for congregations to reach people for Christ as they live in the "next normal." EVOLVE will use the Zoom platform and will provide breakout sessions for participants to continue learning together. Sessions occur on select Tuesday mornings from 9 a.m. until noon.
