As an intern you will be welcomed into a new community with a diverse group of other interns sharing and living together. We are created by a community in a community for the community. What a great opportunity to learn and grow together! In this Christian community, you will engage in relationship building, weekly spiritual growth activities and fun times together.

This missional internship calls you to work with different ministries in your assigned community.

The main worksites in Birmingham will be East Lake UMC and P.E.E.R., Inc which offers a youth summer feeding program, educational community garden, Bible studies with neighborhood youth, and a Saturday farmer’s market; and Dream Garden at Restoration Mission UMC working with neighborhood children, youth and their families.

In Huntsville, the worksites will be the Lincoln Village Ministry summer kids camp; the Huntsville Inner City Learning Center which offers a summer Christian Camp for 3rd through 5th grade and a summer reading program for students in grades K-2nd to strengthen their reading and social skills; and several Asbury UMC partners such as 305 8th Street Ministry serving adults with diverse mental challenge and First Stop in ministry with an unhoused population living in tents.

Interns are expected to spend at least 30-40 hours in the assigned worksites.

You will be surrounded by a loving community as you spend your eight weeks during this life-giving opportunity. What is holding you back?
