Clergy under appointment are encouraged to apply for participation in ICHNOS — a year-long project designed to help laity and clergy map the way forward for their church. Whether clergy are being appointed to a new congregation in July or returning to serve another year in their present appointment this experience can help clergy and a congregation’s core leaders work together to successfully navigate uncharted pathways.
ICHNOS — which means steps or paths (see Romans 4:12; 2 Corinthians 12:18; and I Peter 2:21) — is about finding the new steps and new paths successful churches will need to travel in this new, post-pandemic world that all of us are learning about in real-time.
Other continuing education opportunities offered in North Alabama over the last several years such as the Foundation Leadership Series and EVOLVE have helped clergy gain helpful insights for leading churches. Yet, too often those insights fall by the wayside as clergy struggle to attend to daily congregational needs and convince laity to try something new. ICHNOS partners clergy and core lay leadership in a journey with consistent coaching as insights are developed and implemented and leadership habits and mindsets are transformed.
This opportunity is time-critical. Applications are due Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
