New Oregon UMC celebrates 25 years of sending out a mission team

August 20, 2014

For the 25th year, a mission team from New Oregon UMC has given others the opportunity to have a home by building a family a house.

This year, members from New Oregon UMC, joined by members of other churches in the Fort Payne area and from Birmingham, sent a mission team to Enterprise, Ala., to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for May and Willie Walker.

This annual mission trip allows entire families to participate in the mission. Those not old enough to work on the house participated in activities wherever the team stays. They also visited the work site during meals breaks where mentoring takes place. The thought is, “It’s never too early to start getting their mind set on missions.”
