In September of this year Guntersville First United Methodist Church embarked on a new ministry designed to raise up the next generation of leaders in the church. L.E.A.D., Leadership Education and Development, is an eight-month leadership education and development program, that targets 18 to 40 year olds. It is about DISCOVERING who you are-DEVELOPING your God-given talents-and being DEPLOYED to work in the kingdom of God.

Patterned after the Marshall County Leadership Development Program, but with the Gospel message at its core, candidates are chosen each year who have demonstrated an active faith in Jesus Christ, and who have been identified as future leaders in the church. Each candidate takes part in a weekend leadership retreat, monthly classes, and service projects where faith is accompanied by action.

According to Pastor Terry Bentley, “It is vitally necessary for the continued growth of the ministries of Guntersville First United Methodist Church that the current generation of leaders EQUIP the next generation.” L.E.A.D. offers an exciting new opportunity for those who serve as mentors and participants to experience what it is to be called by God and equipped to answer the call.
