Is God Calling you to Ministry with the Poor? Then the North Alabama Annual Conference has a place for you!
During the summer of 2017, the Conference Ministry with the Poor Operational Team will offer a summer-long intensive internship called Exploration. This opportunity is designed for individuals discerning a call to Ministry with the Poor either as lay people or clergy.
Exploration begins on May 30 and ends on August 6, 2017. Participants will be expected to be present for the duration of the internship.
Exploration interns will serve in one of our North Alabama Conference churches or agencies in direct ministry with the poor. Each intern will receive a stipend of $1500 for the summer and a place to live.
Interns will be appointed to a rural, urban or suburban ministry context. Each context will provide direct, hands on ministry with under resourced neighbors. The 2017 host sites include the following:
Exploration interns will live in community, pray and read Scripture together. They will participate in two spiritual formation and learning retreats and will tour each host site. They will have the opportunity to become certified Christian Community Development participants through a week-long CCDA Immersion.
Exploration is open to college students, seminary students, community members, and anyone 18 years and older who is discerning a call to ministry with the poor and is willing to commit the time and effort required. The Application Deadline is February 28, 2017.
Ministry with the Poor is a priority of the North Alabama Conference. For more information about Exploration visit www.umcna.org/ministrywiththepoor or contact Rev. Dr. Adlene Kufarimai at 256-404-9995 or email@example.com.
