The North Alabama Conference’s annual weekend retreat for youth, Encounter, will be Feb. 17-19, 2017, at the Gatlinburg Convention Center in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

The theme this year is “Focus.” Students will be invited to focus on who they are as Christians and Methodists, and what that means in their daily lives.

This year’s speakers include

  • Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett, Bishop of the North Alabama Conference
  • Dr. Clinton Hubbard Jr., Cheaha District Superintendent and North Alabama Conference Executive Director of Ethnic Ministries
  • Dr. Mary Bendall Henley, Senior Pastor of Helena United Methodist Church
  • Brett Staggs, winner of the 2016 North Alabama Conference Youth Denman Award

Music will be led by Asbury Worship Collective from Asbury University.

Encounter is a high intensity weekend winter retreat designed for middle and high school students to encounter and deepen their walk with Christ. It is a great opportunity for churches of all sizes to have a big experience on a budget.

Registration is now $75 per person. The last day to register, edit, or cancel a registration is Feb. 3, 2017.
