Conference celebrates the start of new faith communities in 2017
One of the North Alabama Conference ministry priorities is “New Faith Communities, Worship Services, and Ministries to reach new persons.”
Executive Director of New Church Development Rev. Dr. Richard Hunter shares an update on how the Conference is living out this priority noting, “This is a lot to celebrate!”
Since January, New Church Development has helped begin the following new starts:
Lester Memorial UMC in Oneonta (Mountain Lakes District) has started a restaurant church.
One Direction Community in Madison (Northeast District) has started a service in the Limestone Flea Market and a service at the Rescue Mission in Huntsville.
ONEeighty in Springville (Central District) has launched a satellite campus in Pinson.
Hueytown First UMC (Central District) is starting a new modern worship service in May.
Hispanic missions are developing in Albertville, Tuscaloosa and Cullman.
Cahaba Heights UMC in Vestavia (South Central District) has launched a new ministry called Crosshaven.
The Trinity campus of Alexander City First UMC (Southeast District) opened in January.
Celebrate Recovery has grown in just three years from four locations to more than 25 in the North Alabama Conference. These new sites are welcoming 800+ people in attendance each week – most of whom were previously not connected to any church.
