Afternoon of Praise event to benefit two nonprofits

The Fourth Annual Afternoon of Praise benefitting The Red Door Kitchen and The Samaritan House is scheduled for Sunday, August 21, at the Historic Ritz Theatre in Talladega, AL 35160.

Dove Award nominee Richard Kingsmore will direct more than 100 singers and musicians from throughout North Central Alabama as they perform soul-stirring contemporary Christian classics and Southern gospel favorites to praise God and raise funds and food for two 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. Performances are scheduled for 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm.

Participating singers and musicians represent First UMC of Talladega, St. Mark’s in Anniston, Deer Park UMC in Birmingham, Liberty Crossings UMC in Birmingham, Church of the Highlands, First Baptist Church of Talladega, Southside Baptist Talladega, Ridgeview Baptist Talladega, Central Baptist Talladega, Mt. Olive Baptist Talladega, Simple Church Oxford, Christ Deliverance Christian Center Talladega, and Grace Episcopal Church Anniston, among others.

Admission is a $15 tax-deductible ticket donation and a bag of non-perishable food items. All monetary proceeds go directly to The Red Door Kitchen and all food items go directly to The Samaritan House.

Tickets may be purchased at First United Methodist Church of Talladega, or by calling The Ritz Theatre at 256-315-0000. Trucks will be parked in front of The Ritz, located at 115 Court Square North in Talladega, on the day of the event to accept food donations.
