In June 2015, Rev. Jason Greene was appointed to lead a church planting team in Trinity, Alabama. They are located halfway between Decatur and Moulton and are just inside of Lawrence County. So they chose the name CrossRoads Community Church. This church will fill a niche in this growing area where there is not a strong United Methodist presence.
The new congregation's focus is on seeing the Kingdom of God made known in the community by reaching people not currently in church in the East Lawrence County and West Morgan County area with the life changing and holistic gospel of Jesus Christ.
Their mission work includes a backpack ministry at East Lawrence High School and First Priority at East Lawrence Middle School. They have a deep commitment to celebrate the journey of those who come and follow Jesus and adopt the values of the Kingdom of God.
Youth ministry is a priority at CrossRoads. The youth have chosen the name Renaissance youth.
Rev. Greene explains, “They want to be part of a spiritual renewal that focuses and builds all of life on relationship with God through Jesus Christ and by the Holy Spirit. For them, this means that all of life belongs to God and is lived in beauty, faith, holy love, and renewal. Whether it is the life of the mind, the heart, the arts, or any other aspect of life; they exist to love God, love people, follow Jesus, and see all things made new. This is pretty amazing!”
The youth meet each Wednesday night and then lead worship on Sunday night. The ministry have regular outreach events to create a fun and hospitable outing/event that will introduce other students to what is happening at Crossroads. They also participate in mission activities in the community.
The new congregation is also connecting to parents through all its ministry efforts and inviting them to become part of the church.
