We want to thank everyone who responded to the call for UMCOR Cleaning Buckets. Today we are very pleased to share that because of our corporate effort as United Methodists our Warehouse system now has sufficient Cleaning Buckets.
Cathy Earl of UMCOR suggests that if your congregation is needing a project consider compiling UMCOR school kits or health kits. (Go to www.umcor.org/umcor/relief-supplies for kit assembly instructions.)
Again, thank you for responding like Jesus!
In His Grace,
Disaster Response Coordinator for the North Alabama Annual Conference
From the Disaster Response Warehouse: Help needed during September, October and November
Currently the Disaster Response Warehouse in Decatur is receiving UMCOR cleaning buckets from seven
different Annual Conferences. At the same time they are receiving Christmas shoe boxes from as far away as Texas and Kentucky.
Volunteers are greatly needed to be a part of the amazing ministry happening at your
Disaster Response Warehouse.
Due to the flooding in Louisiana and the request for more than 20,000 Christmas Shoe Boxes from Methodist missionaries, volunteers are needed at the Warehouse during September, October, and November. This is a great service opportunity for your congregation!
Can your Sunday school class, adult study group, or UMW unit pick the same day in each of the three months to volunteer during this special time of the year? It might be the first, second, third or fourth week on the same day of the week. Adult-aged groups are needed Monday – Friday.
There are sitting jobs, but volunteers who can lift cases of shoe boxes and supplies are also needed.
Please ask your group this Sunday and call the UMCOR Disaster Response Warehouse in Decatur at 256-341-9961 to book your dates.
