The West Morgan-East Lawrence Water Authority and the West Lawrence Water Co-op has issue a warning urging all of their customers to not drink the water provided by these systems. There is believed to contain chemical contaminant that is hazardous for human consumption. The Lawrence and Morgan County offices of Emergency Management are requesting assistance through the collection of bottled water.
We are asking everyone in our network to provide 1 gallon containers of water until further notice.
The water collected may be turned in to the Disaster Response Warehouse in Decatur, Alabama, located at 3220 Hwy 31 South, Building F, Decatur, AL 35603 . The warehouse is staff by volunteers, so please call (256) 341-9961 before making a delivery.
Latest reports indicate that water should be restored Monday at the earliest. Please watch for further updates. There are four volunteer fire departments in the affected communities that will distribute the water.
