Disaster Response Update: West Virginia Flooding (Updated 6/28)

6/27/2016

As you are now aware, West Virginia is in the middle of a severe flood event. The Conference Disaster Response and Recovery Team has been in communication with the West Virginia office of Disaster Response and their immediate needs are as follows:

  • Garden Rakes (NOT leaf rakes)
  • Shovels
  • Baby Wipes
  • Baby Diapers
  • Baby Formula
  • 25 ft. 12 gauge extension cords

We need these items as soon as possible to be delivered to the Disaster Response Warehouse in Decatur, so we can send a shipment to West Virginia.

The Disaster Response Warehouse is located at 3220 Highway 31 South, Building F. The Warehouse is run by volunteers, so please call before you make a delivery of donated supplies. The phone number for the Warehouse is 256-341-9961

You can also support efforts by donating directly to the West Virginia Annual Conference Disaster Response Fund. Information is found at http://wvumc.org/About/Ministries/Disaster-Response

Also note at this time, the West Virginia Annual Conference has NOT extended an invitation for Early Response Teams. Should an invitation be extended by the Northeast Jurisdiction UMVIM Office, we will pass that information along to you.

In His Grace,
Randy Burbank
