Encounter winter retreat for middle and high school students to be February 19-21, 2016

Encounter 2016 will be February 19-21, 2016, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  Encounter is a high intensity weekend winter retreat designed for middle and high school students to encounter and deepen their walk with Christ. It's a great opportunity for North Alabama Conference churches of all sizes to have a big experience on a budget. This annual retreat features nationally known speakers, powerful worship experiences.

North Alabama Conference Next Generation Leadership Facilitator Micah Dormann says, "Encounter 2016 is rapidly approaching and we do not want you and your students to miss out on what God is going to do this year.  Our theme this year is Homegrown: God is discovering, developing, and deploying us right where we are.  Every leader this year on stage is from our North Alabama Conference and we are excited to allow the students see how God is using people in their back yard to change the world."

This year's event will feature worship led by the Ben Nelson Band and an amazing student band from Sylacauga First UMC (winner of the 2015 Battle of the Bands).  Speakers will be from all over the North Alabama Conference, including Rev. David Thompson from Trinity UMC in Homewood and Rev. Miriam Smith from Trinity UMC in Huntsville.

Dormann adds, "We will have a few more surprises for you as well."
