This year’s North Alabama Annual Conference mission project was the Bazillion Book Drive — an initiative to collect and distribute books to under-resourced children. The long-term aim of the project is for North Alabama congregations to build relationships and be in continuous ministry with children and families in their community.
Two churches in the Southeast District, led by pastor Dr. Randy B. Kelley, recently reached out to their communities in the spirit of the Bazillion Book Drive.
Goodwill United Methodist Church collected and delivered Pre-K level books to Bowen East Head Start. Principal Misty Adams received the books from Goodsell UMC pastor Dr. Randy B. Kelley.
Powell Chapel UMC partnered with the Chambers County Board of Education and a coalition of local businesses to give away 250 backpacks filled with school supplies during their 4th annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 6, 2016. During the event various booths were available to provide educational resources and assistance. Recruiters from Auburn University and Alabama State University were also present at the event.
