Healthy Congregations to sponsor Training Workshop for Church Turnaround on June 3


On Saturday, June 3, 2017, clergy and key laity from North Alabama Conference congregations are invited to a Training Workshop for Church Turnaround featuring Bishop Robert Schnase. The event, sponsored by Healthy Congregations, will take place at Trinity UMC (607 Airport Road, Huntsville, AL 35802) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bishop Schnase will provide practical training for churches of all sizes in the art of growth in mission and ministry. He is known for his practical and effective writings on methods that create church health and growth. His latest book, Just Say Yes: Unleashing People for Ministry will be the featured resource for this seminar which will provide real-church examples of how every church can unleash its people for ministry – encouraging, emboldening and equipping them.

Bishop Schnase will be one of the featured teachers for the 2017 North Alabama Conference, which will gather in Huntsville on June 4-6. This pre-Annual Conference training will be an opportunity to join Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett and Cabinet for an additional learning experience.

About Bishop Robert Schnase

Robert Schnase serves as bishop of the Rio Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Prior to that assignment, he served as the bishop of the Missouri Conference from 2004-2016.

Bishop Schnase is the author of the bestselling books Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations, Five Practices of Fruitful Living, Practicing Extravagant Generosity, and Seven Levers: Missional Strategies for Conferences. His latest book, Just Say Yes: Unleashing People for Ministry, is written for people whose passion has been simmering for years, who yearn to be told Yes! He examines the systems and attitudes that restrain and control ministry. He demonstrates practical ways church leaders can rethink fundamental assumptions about organizations and leadership.

Before his election as bishop, Schnase served for 15 years as senior pastor of First United Methodist Church in McAllen, Texas, a congregation that became widely known for its extensive mission and outreach, for reaching younger generations, and bicultural ministry. He also served congregations in Harlingen, Texas and in Great Britain.

He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Perkins School of Theology. He enjoys birding, fishing, canoeing, and traveling in Central America. He is married to Esther and they have two adult sons, Karl and Paul.
