Henryville UMC continues tradition of free Christmas Eve meal for the community
Last week The Advertiser-Gleam posted an article describing how the Henryville UMC congregation reached out to its community on Christmas Eve.
Members of Henryville UMC (Mountain Lakes District) continued a ministry they have done for the past 15 to 20 years. They offered a free Christmas Eve meal to their community. After weeks of planning and food preparation meals were available for community members to eat at the church or pick up for carry out. The congregation also delivered meals to shut-ins and sick members of the community. In total 500 meals were served.
Senior pastor Rev. Joy Morgan told The Advertiser-Gleam, “We want the community to know that God cares about them now just as much as at the first Christmas. Emmanuel means God with us. We hope people experience that God is with us even in something as simple as a meal.”
